Art and the Aesthete: Eric Ravilious (1903-1942)

I wanted to take a operate down nostalgic Britain lane this posting, and influence a rear to dismount attack some of the works of the wonderful Eric Ravilious, but not his choice of words toil. Ravilious was an artist and an connoisseur with a very vivid sentiment and category. His run off works are well at ease and even during his day, his works were sought after. They are what I would ponder to be distinctly British, and at the same habits, very 40's. He was a Londoner and planned at Eastbourne but then at the Peer royalty College of Art. He died in rather unlucky circumstances, during Delighted War II. I dont need to wax on about his prints and etchings, but rather take a look at the designs he created for ceramics. He worked initially with Foley (as did Laura Knight) who created elevated end ceramics in the twenties. Foley later became Shelley, but the Foley china, first the designs created by artists, was absolutely extraordinary.
